2013年11月，Rachel Platten同她的朋友兼合作者、曲作者戴夫·巴塞特在马里布的录音室写下了《Fight Song》的早期版本，随后一年多的时间内制作出了最终的成品. 在创作过程中，她共写下了五至六种不同的主歌及四种不同的桥段. 

整首歌曲以G大调为主，节奏设为每分钟88次，而Rachel Platten的声域则位于G3至E5之间. 歌曲主歌和桥段部分以钢琴的弹奏声作为伴奏，其余部分则由有力的鼓点节拍驱动. 而歌曲的结尾以木吉他的扫弦收尾，这使一切都完美地融合在一起. Rachel Platten的唱腔很清新，使人印象深刻。
