这几个估计乐迷们都耳熟能详了，但是他们在DJ台上究竟玩的是什么音乐呢？

You probably know those guys, but can you define the genre of their music ?

如今很多人都会用这三个字母，但是对于它们的解释却十分模糊。有的人把EDM称作Big Room House，也就是大型音乐节中用来制造热闹气氛的音乐；有的人把EDM当作所有电子音乐的统称。但是，EDM到底指的是什么呢？

Electronic Dance Music（也就是人们所熟知的EDM，电子舞曲，在夜店播放的歌曲，或者我们也可以仅仅称它们为舞曲）可以用来描述很多种类的电子打击乐，例如在夜店、狂欢活动、音乐节等场合播放的音乐，我们都可以叫它们EDM。这些音乐通常是由DJ们播放的，它们经过DJ们一首一首地精心挑选，出现在混音的歌单中。

“Electronic Dance Music”以及它们的首字母缩写“EDM”被美国的音乐界以及音乐媒体采用，作为一个时髦的词汇用来形容21世纪逐渐发展起来的商业化电子音乐。在这样的背景下，EDM并不特指一个单一流派，而是许多流派的总称，包括Techno, House, Trance, Hardstyle, Dubstep, Drum and Bass, Trap以及它们所衍生出的其他风格。

Nowadays everybody is using these 3 letters but the definition remains blur. Some define EDM as Big Room House Music, some as a generic term for all the electronic music. But what exactly does EDM refer to?

Electronic dance music (also known as EDM, electronic dance, dance music, club music, or simply dance) is a broad range of percussive electronic music genres produced largely for nightclubs, raves, and festivals. Produced for playback by disc jockeys (DJs), EDM is generally used in the context of a live DJ mix where the DJ creates a seamless selection of tracks by segueing from one recording to the next.

The "electronic dance music" and the initialism "EDM" were adopted by the U.S. music industry and music press as a buzzword to describe the increasingly commercial American electronic music scene that developed in the late 2000s. In this context, EDM does not refer to a specific genre, but serves as an umbrella term for several genres, including techno, house, trance, hardstyle, dubstep, drum and bass, trap and their respective subgenres.
